Short bio

Jiayi Li is a postdoctoral researcher in the Section of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. She studies the geometry and statistics of machine learning, with a focus on singular learning theory. Her work connects the geometry of model spaces with statistical complexity, generalization, and identifiability. She is also an ILIAD Fellow in applied mathematics for AI alignment. She received her PhD in Statistics from UCLA, where she was a member of the Mathematical Machine Learning Group.
